Baby, Love

Maz and Silas

These pics were taken back in April when Maz and Silas came to Durban to visit their family. Looking at the pics now I’m amazed at how Freya bonded with Maz so easily. She can be quite clingy at times but when she’s with a true friend of ours, she is so relaxed. In these photos, it’s like they spend a lot of time together, when that’s not the case at all. I wish we lived in the same city as each other – domestic flights are so expensive in SA – it’s almost impossible to just fly somewhere for the weekend now, especially when Freya is two and costs the same as an adult. Ridiculous!

Freya and Belinda

Sheldon’s Mom came to visit about a month ago now. She spent a week with us and had lots of good quality time with Freya. We went to the beach, Mitchell Park, took a walk around the little ‘zoo’ bit there. Can’t really call it a zoo – more like an area full of birds! Freya had a ball there though. Lots for her to look at and lots of space for her to run around. We really do wish that her grannies didn’t live so far away from us. My Mom’s moving back to Durban from Joburg though – one down, one to go!

Packaging, Products

This was our wedding gift from Ed – personalised stationery from Smythson! So spoilt. We’ve been using it a lot lately and feel very fancy when we post them off to people… I’ve blurred out our address so all my stalkers can’t find me.

Merchant & Mills

Yes, I’m back. It’s been a while but I don’t have a laptop anymore. Too sad to even talk about.

Anyway, I took these pics on my big camera quite a while ago and discovered them the other day, so thought it’s about time I write about it. My friend, Edward, from the UK, came here on holiday and bought this for me. I just love. I marvelled at the box for ages before I even bothered opening it. He could have actually just given me the empty box and I would have been happy. Beautiful typography and illustration – what’s not to love? Also, take a close look and you’ll see my name on the box too! The products inside are equally as beautiful – love the attention to detail on each little thing. Thanks Ed. I miss you my friend.

Lack of posts

So my laptop has finally given up on me. It’s over. I no longer have a laptop so my posts will be few and far between I’m afraid. I’ll have to come in to work early to do it here – or stay later to work on it – but that doesn’t sound too appealing at the moment. I can’t wait to get home at the end of the day. Anyway, enough of the boring IT stuff. Feast your eyes on this image please. I love it. Found here.

Small + Mighty

A friend of mine, Cathy, has just started her own blog. It’s been a long time coming and I’m so glad she’s finally doing it. She’s South African but lives in Seattle with her husband, Shane, and their son, Fynn. She writes beautifully and takes the most amazing pictures. It’s always a bit daunting starting a blog for the first time. I procrastinated for ages but once you get into it, it’s a good release. It’s just hard finding the time to keep adding posts!

I miss these 3 so much and really wish they lived back in SA with us so we can bring up our kids together. One day. I live in hope.small_mighty

My friend Sam knows that I love funny dogs. She sent me this little beaut on Whatsapp the other day. His name is Tuna. Don’t you love the overbite? The bow tie just finishes the look off so nicely. He looks like such a nerd.

I showed him to a friend of mine at work and 5 minutes later, she sends me this little guy. Look how sheepish he is. So embarrassed.

The ‘cronut’

OK, I think they need to work on the name of this new tasty treat… besides that, let me just tell you that the cross between a croissant and a donut, dipped in homemade vanilla custard cream was the best thing I’ve had in a very long while! Thanks to Lucy from Freedom Cafe for bringing it over to us to test out.
